If you’re interested in getting something repaired, please register your interest to help ensure the repair coaches have the correct tools. If you’re not sure of the part you need for say a bicycle fix, then bring your item along at the beginning for a quick assessment. The coaches will let you know what needs to be purchased.  Please note your email will only be used only for this event. After the event, we will remove all your information.

Please book by 3rd Septemeber. We do take walk-in bookings if coaches are available, but priority is given to bookings. You will be expected to stay and help / observe / get involved with the fix being done. And … please bring a mug for a drink.

Terms and Conditions

1. All repairs carried out at the Repair Clinic (RC) are performed at the customer’s own risk. The advice and repair service is conducted by experienced volunteers and there is no charge, but donations are welcome to cover costs including the purchase of tools and equipment and the development of the service.

2. Repairs take time to assess and complete. This might not be possible in the period available. We are not guaranteeing success! However we will give experienced advice and suggest an approach if we can.

3. After making an initial assessment of an item, repairers are fully entitled to use their discretion and refuse to repair an item should they so decide. The functionality of some items might be restored through a more drastic modification to the equipment thus the customer has the right to refuse. If accepted the customer must accept any risk.

4. Customers are responsible for the removal of all items that cannot be repaired.

5. Neither the organisers of RC nor the repairers in personal capacities or otherwise are liable for any accidental damage that may occur to either visitors’ goods or personal effects during visitors’ time at the sessions.

6. The customer is responsible for providing any consumables such as leads, plugs, fuses, zips, etc. that may be needed to fully complete a repair.

7. Repair coaches offer no guarantee for any repairs carried out with or without their help and are not liable if any repaired items do not work properly at home or break down again in the future.

8. Neither the organisers of RC nor the repairers in personal capacities or otherwise are liable for any loss or injury whatsoever that may result from any repair carried out or for any advice or instructions given and used at a later date. Please note: Dangerous tools and equipment are present and sometimes used in repairs. Parents must exercise control over, and be responsible for, the behaviour of their children whilst attending the RC.

9. St John’s is GDPR compliant and all information provided is treated with the utmost confidence and never passed to a third party. 

10. Items will be examined on arrival in reception and RC reserves the right to refuse to accept for repair any item that is considered too dangerous and/or damaged or obviously beyond repair. In particular, items that cannot operate safely indoors (eg petrol-engined machinery) cannot be accepted. Items for the material fixes need to be clean.

11. RC takes no responsibility in any form whatever for any item, repaired or otherwise, once it has left the premises where the Repair Clinic session is taking place.
