At Christmas St John’s likes to host a Christmas Dinner for anyone who would otherwise be on their own.
For many in our community though, this Christmas will be even more challenging than previous years. Many people find the community Christmas meals are a special lifeline and this year they are not possible.
This year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to do this so we have decided to deliver hot meals to those who need it.
Can anyone who would like a meal delivered please let the church office (01784 605400) know by 6 December.
We need helpers
We hope that all members of St John’s will feel able to be involved in some way in what we can do.
Could you write a special card for someone you don’t know that would help them feel cared about?
Could you give a small, wrapped gift to our collection. (Preferably unisex, but clear if not, or a small pot plant, a nice ‘little something’ rather than expensive)
Could you help in the kitchen?
We need to deep clean it.
We will be preparing some food on Christmas Eve. We could have 2 ‘teams’ of 2 safely in the kitchen, it wouldn’t need you to be there all day.
We would love some (probably a couple again) for help on Christmas Day, some food related, some washing up.
We need drivers to deliver the hot food. We hope that you will only need to go to a few addresses and not inside homes.
Would you be able to host someone in your home? We think it would be wise to assume no more than 6 in a house and care would have to be taken to minimise risk of Covid transmission…
Would you prefer to donate to the church funds to facilitate the arrangements instead?
MOST IMPORTANT would you or someone you live near welcome a hot Christmas meal on Christmas Day?
Contact the Church Office if you can help.
