Giving to the Easter Centre

The Easter Centre – our lovely church centre – transformed the life of St John’s Egham when it opened in Spring 2017. It enabled many more ministries, allowed us to expand our daily pre-school, PlayBox, and gave us a renewed visibility in the town. All of these help spread the Good News in Egham. It is the largest and best-equipped church centre in the Deanery, and among the very best in the Diocese. Second only to our wonderful people, it stands alongside our historic church as one of our greatest assets.

The church members who made it happen were bold. They invested in the future. The Centre was funded through both generous gifts and loans. Had we waited until every pound had been raised before building, we would probably still be looking at an empty field. Today, we expect the remaining loans to be repaid by November 2032, but we still owe over £550,000.

So why should you consider giving towards repaying the loans? After all, today’s church family didn’t make the decision to build the Easter Centre. The answer is simple: we are the ones who are benefiting from it every day. Every ministry it enables, every child at PlayBox, every community group that meets here, and every person who comes through its doors is part of the vision that previous generations made possible.

Our repayment plan also assumes that new regular giving will continue. Some faithful supporters have moved away, died, or reached the end of ten-year pledges they originally made. To finish what was so courageously started, we need others to continue their generosity. New regular gifts help meet the monthly loan repayments and ensure that this investment in God’s mission is fully completed.

Please pray about whether God is calling you to become part of this story by helping us complete this bold project.

Ways to Give

Join the Parish Giving Scheme. This is a separate account to the regular partnership giving. PGS partnership giving is our most important priority. Please pray about giving the the Easter Centre on top.

Give regularly via payroll, standing order or pledge regular giving by cash or cheque.

Make a one-off gift. A gift of £6000 will ‘buy’ a month off our planned November 2032 completion date

Make an interest-free loan. We have congregation loans of over £150K. With current interest rates, this makes a real difference. Your loan will immediately reduce the high-interest bank loan.

Note that should the total gifts we receive exceed the amount we need to pay off the loans for the building costs of the Easter Centre, we will use the gifts to pay for the running costs of the Easter Centre.
