July was a month for encouraging our church family and the wider community to become stewards of our environment. We developed a number of themes to encourage initiatives to reduce carbon generation, a reduction in waste, and more integration with our natural world. If you would like to review those discussions, you can search for them in our Facebook group: St John’s Eco-Church

Plastic is an amazing flexible resource but single-use plastic waste is a burden to our society because it lasts so long. Currently many types of plastic waste are incinerated which means this resource is lost lost forever. We would like to lock away this plastic until a way is discovered to properly recycle it. One way is to upcycle it and create Eco-Bricks so that we can use them as a resource for building raised beds and benches within the church grounds.
