Fundraising
St John’s conducts a wide range of fundraising activities to support the building costs of our wonderful Easter Centre.
As well as raising funds, these events are enjoyable, build fellowship with each other, and increase our connection with the wider community.
November 2023
I am pleased to let you know that the grand total from our fundraising activities, including gift aid, is now £95,426.31 [Target £100,000].
The Egham Band concert raised a staggering £1,216.70 [including gift aid]. Everyone agreed that they were on top form and at their highest standard of performance. It was such a delight to have them entertain us with their choice of movie tunes. Also included in this month’s total is a further £220 from items donated on our valuation day that went to auction. Sales of the St. John’s history book and other items make up the difference.

The very first fundraising initiative was in 2008.
Helen Janes was a well-known and well-loved Christian who had the gift of putting her thoughts into poetry. Helen with the help of other church members recorded her poems and set them to music with pictorial backgrounds.
Stephen Janes has offered to reproduce The Architect’s Plans DVD again in her memory. The original cost for a copy was £6.50 and so we have decided to keep to that price. Extra donations of course are always welcome. If this sounds something you are interested in Stephen can be contacted via: stephenjanes1@gmail.com or in person.
A Short History of The Parish Church of St. John The Baptist Egham Surrey |
The book has now sold 260+ copies. I still have 100 to sell. They are £15 each and £4 UK postage if required. I would like to have them all sold by Christmas if possible. The story is told in a chronological order of events and activities that happened during each vicar’s term of office right up to Magna Carta Day 2023. It includes a fair amount of local history and our connection with the development of Egham and our surrounding areas. As well as explanations of the monuments inside and some outside the church I have mentioned many congregation members who over the decades have added so much to the life of the church. Please Email: historyofstjohns@stjohnsegham.com to obtain a copy. |
