Most of our funds come from regular giving. On top, we run fundraising events for specific purposes, such as for one of our mission partners and for the building costs of the Easter Centre. We also have an annual Lent project that is for one of our mission partners or another good cause.

In addition to raising funds, our events build fellowship with each other and increase our connection with the community. And many say they are enjoyable.

Fundraising for the Easter Centre building costs

Phil Darby is pleased to let you know that the outstanding amount required to fully repay the building costs of the Easter Centre as of July 31st 2026 is £544,581.

Included in this month’s fundraising figure is £141 from vinyl and cd sales, £53 from other items, £60 from a garden tidy-up and £30 for 2 church history books. This all adds up to another £284 and brings our total raised from September 2026 to £3,457.20p.

Coming Up

Our next sale of preloved records, cds, dvds, cassette tapes and related music items will be on Saturday September 5th. This time we will be a part of the annual St. John’s Eco Fayre and will be outside near the Caddey from 11am to 3pm. Since we started we have saved 22.69Kg from going to landfill and raised £1,063.

We are looking for another person to help on the sale days. This would allow others to take a break from time to time.

The following sale is on Saturday October 3rd in the Caddey at the usual time of 10.30am – 1.30pm.

Please encourage people to attend. The more who come the more we might possibly sell.

Quiz Night + Child Action Lanka Christmas Stall

We are planning another brain friendly quiz night to be held on Friday November 13th. We have a lot of fun on these evenings as well as raise money for our cause. Admission is £5 per person with students getting in free. We open the doors at 7pm for the stall and start the quiz at 7.45pm. The stall again opens in the interval and at the end which is about 9.45pm.There is no need to book in advance and feel free to bring your own refreshments.

It’s holiday time

Do you have any left over foreign currency, either current or from previous adventures, that you would like to donate. If so please let me know as we can get a good exchange rate for them. Old cameras and attachments are also wanted as we have an outlet for these as well as the digital ones.

Old mobile phones, Ipads and sat navs – though we don’t need the leads.

We would appreciate stamps being sorted into UK and international. It is helpful to separate the UK ones into two piles of current and pre QR code.

I have sent a full box of ink cartridges and will receive some money soon. Now lets fill another with up to 80 cartridges and see what we get for them.

All items can be dropped off on the preloved vinyl record sale days which are on 1st Saturday monthly.

There are now 42 books left so potentially another £630 if all get sold. To date we have sold 328 and raised a total of £1,559.92p.
