Handbell Ringers
St. John’s Handbell Ringers meet on the first and third Saturdays in the month 1.30-2.30 (with a break over the summer) to learn and practice handbell ringing. We play a wide range of music and have taken part in special services such as the annual Carols by Candlelight service and other activities such as Egham’s first Make Music Day last summer and the Day Centre Carol Service.
Who can join?
Anyone can ring handbells – young, not so young and the ‘the in-betweens’. You do not need to be able to play a musical instrument or read music – you just need to be able to count and have a sense of rhythm. It provides an opportunity for anyone who has never had a chance in the past to learn an instrument, to discover the pleasure ‘making music’ can bring, and to share that with others in the community.
We welcome new members so if you would like to have a go, please contact the Church Office for further information.
[Owing to the pandemic we have been unable to meet the past few months. Practices will resume once restrictions are lifted and it is safe for us to meet in accordance with latest government guidelines, being mindful of the circumstances of group members and others who may wish to join us.]
