
The “Christmas story” has grown so clichéd and confused with myth and tradition that it can be easy to miss, as we approach Advent, that we are reflecting on the coming of God in human form. As we hear about Jesus’ life from Bethlehem birth to Jerusalem crucifixion, we are seeing God walking on the earth and living amongst us. Each time we encounter Jesus in the Gospels, we have the awesome opportunity to see God face to face and ask what those accounts teach about God.
Most people, especially due to Covid, have experienced the difference between a distant encounter and one in real life. We have a God who was not satisfied with a relationship at arm’s length but wanted to be with His people face to face.
