“Our prayers lay the track down on which God’s power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, His power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails.”
This is not to restrict God, but to acknowledge that we are in partnership with him in his mission. When we pray, we ‘plug’ into him; we are changed by that very act of prayer and so are the situations around us.
St Paul exhorts us to ‘pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests.’ Eph 6:18. As a church we try to make space to do that as much as we can.
Prayer at St John’s
The church is open on Wednesdays from 12:30 – 2:30 for quiet personal prayer or just a space to ‘be’ in God’s presence.
We meet to pray as a church on every first Monday of the month in church from 8-9pm. The prayer meeting is in person and online via Teams. Contact the church office for details.
Prayer for one another
We are also encouraged to pray for each other.
‘…and pray for each other, that you may be healed.’ James 5:16
It is a huge privilege to pray for one another.
If you would like someone to pray with you, prayer teams are available on Sundays after the services (9:00am, 10:30am and 6:00pm).
If you would like prayer for something, you can contact the church office and ask to see someone from the prayer or pastoral teams.
Small groups (Life groups and BreakThrough groups) also offer prayer within a secure environment. If you would like to find out more about small groups, please contact the clergy
